Introducing two exceptional itineraries created by our customers!

The purpose of this article is to highlight the itineraries and customer feedback that stood out to us during the 2023/2024 high season in Costa Rica!

As a reminder, the dry season is the country’s peak tourist season, when we book the most trips for our customers.

First, based on an internal survey, we selected two itineraries to share with you—designed by Esteban Alvarado and Cristo De Franceschi (myself), respectively—that were completed between February and April 2024.

I then analyzed the itineraries in detail and compiled feedback from my colleagues and clients to put together this comprehensive presentation for you.

First of all, these two itineraries share common features that clearly illustrate how we operate: tailoring our proposals to clients’ wishes, budgets, and profiles; selecting service providers from our supplier catalog; and designing itineraries that include varied and original stops, allowing for a wonderful exploration of the country.

Conversely, these itineraries also have unique features that highlight our commitment to personalizing each of our proposals based on our clients’ plans, so that every trip is one-of-a-kind!

It’s also worth noting that the travel agent’s personality influences the final result, as each agent has their own preferences and affinities depending on the region.

It’s important to note that we have obtained priorpermission from our clients to share their names and travel photos via our feedback form.

Presentation of the selected travel projects:

A luxury trip to discover Costa Rica’s must-see attractions!

Sonia and her partner: a couple in their 50s from Switzerland 24-day trip

Sales Representative: Esteban

« For this project, my clients’ goal was to plan a long-term, high-end trip (more than 3 weeks) that would allow themtoexplore Costa Rica’s must-see attractions.

They wanted a fast-paced itinerary to see as many regions of the ‘Green Gold’ country as possible . So I planned regular stops along the way, while making sure they spent at least two nights in each region.

I also included numerous activities to meet my clients’ need for a comprehensive itinerary. Additionally, they wanted to stay in beautiful hotels, which is why I selected a range of 3- and 4-star hotels from our catalog.

The smoothness of our communication allowed me to finalize the itinerary with just the second draft I presented, which clearly shows that my initial proposal had accurately identified their preferences; from there, it just took a few tweaks to make it perfect. »

The itinerary:

Arrival in San José → 2 nights in Tortuguero (mangrove) → 3 nights in Arenal (volcano) → 2 nights in Tenorio (volcano – jungle) → 2 nights in Rincón de la Vieja (volcano – dry tropical forest) → 3 nights in Samara (Pacific coast) → 2 nights in Monteverde (mountains – tropical rainforest) → 3 nights in Uvita (Pacific coast) → 3 nights in Golfo Dulce (exceptional site: tropical fjord ) → 2 nights in Alajuela (near the airport)

Interesting activities:

  • Floating safari through the Tortuguero canals
  • Night tour of a cacao plantation in Arenal
  • Tour of the Curi Cancha Reserve in Monteverde
  • Kayaking in Golfo Dulce andon the Rio Esquinas
  • Return to San José via a domestic flight from Golfito

Key takeaways:

  • A long and comprehensive itinerary to explore Costa Rica’s must-see sites, from the Caribbean coast to the volcanoes and plains of the central region and the Pacific coast
  • A variety of accommodations and experiences: intimate hotels—sometimes more immersive, sometimes more luxurious— but always of the highest quality (all “hidden gems” from our catalog)

Feedback—a feedback questionnaire distributed at the end of the trip:

“Overall, your agency did an excellent job selecting the accommodations and sites to visit, which met our expectations perfectly. Unfortunately, we weren’t always able to follow the itinerary due to weather conditions (bad luck…) or, on one occasion, because of a delay in the schedule (delayed departure from Tortuguero).”

An immersive trip off the beaten path!

Ariane: a solo traveler from Belgium18-day trip

Sales Representative: Cristo

I have very fond memories of Ariane, a solo traveler in her mid-sixties who was still full of energy and eager to explore Costa Rica’s exceptional natural sites.

I had initially planned a more leisurely itinerary, but I quickly realized that Ariane wanted to experience a true adventure in Costa Rica. So I selected shorter stops that were further off the beaten path, with the goal of offering an immersive experience.

All of this was complemented by a selection of nature-based activities that allowed Ariane to enjoy a variety of experiences while taking in some amazing sights (rafting, floating safaris, suspension bridges, and more).

The itinerary:

Arrival in San José → 2 nights in Barra Pacuare (mangrove) → 1 night in Sarapiquí (river plain) → 2 nights in Boca Tapada (inland wetland) → 2 nights in Arenal (volcano)→ 1 night in Tenorio (volcano) → 1 night in Costa de Pajaros (Pacific Coast wetland) → 1 night in Manuel Antonio (Pacific beach) → 1 night in Uvita (Pacific beach) → 3 nights in Bahia Drake (exceptional site—Corcovado National Park) → 1 night in San Gerardo de Dota (mountains) → 1 final night in Alajuela (near the airport)

Interesting activities:

  • Floating safari in the Barra Pacuare Biological Reserve
  • Adventure course in Arenal (suspension bridges and cable car)
  • Rafting on the Balsa River (Arenal)
  • Hiking in Corcovado National Park

Key takeaways:

  • A selection of authentic “hidden gems” from our catalog: strong focus on ecotourism (hotels with private reserves or conservation programs, sustainable activities, etc.)
  • A brisk pace that allows you to gain a comprehensive view of the country in 18 days

Google Reviews:

« A wonderful trip organized by Terra Caribea—very well planned, they accommodated my requests and provided very detailed information. They checked in with me several times during the trip to make sure everything was going smoothly and responded positively right away when I was running late for an appointment. The accommodations were very well chosen and are in great locations—you can really trust them . »
