Barra Pacuare – Departure from the Caribbean Coast
Enjoy a Cabecar culinary experience (one of Costa Rica’s indigenous peoples) before cruising through the Tortuguero canals to see its exceptional wildlife: crocodiles, monkeys, and exotic birds.
The first leg of the journey is a 6-km trek through the Pacuare Private Reserve, where you’ll spend the night in a cabin surrounded by lush rainforests.
Barilla - Nairi Awari Territory
Today you’ll ride 42 km on a mountain bike to Barbilla National Park and the Nairi Awari Indigenous Territory.
You’ll spend the night at an eco-lodge nestled in the heart of nature.
Tres Equis de Turrialba - Jamekäri Community
You’ll start the day with a 20-kilometer downhill mountain bike ride before stopping for a hike in the Jamekäri indigenous community.
You’ll then head out in a 4×4 toward a finca where you’ll spend the night—a true birdwatcher’s paradise. Enjoy a nighttime walk to spot frogs and snakes.
Mollejones de Turrialba - Homestay
Start the day with an 11-kilometer bike ride to Mollejones. Once there, enjoy some cultural activities: making tortillas, baking homemade bread, and preparing traditional « cajetas » sweets.
In the evening, enjoy a night at a bed-and-breakfast with a traditional dinner.
El Copal - Ready for the Climb
Get ready for a long 42-kilometer day on varied terrain. You’ll have the chance to visit a livestock farm that uses sustainable practices, taste honey wine, and then explore a craft brewery.
You’ll ride through coffee and sugarcane plantations to the Pejivalle River and end the day at the El Copa private reserve, where you’ll spend the night in a cabin.
The Orosi Valley: Up and Down
Set off on an 8-kilometer mountain bike climb with incredible views of the Talamanca Range and Tapantí National Park. Enjoy a swim in the Orosi River before continuing on to Rio Macho and Navarro de Muñeco.
A vehicle will then take you to Orosi, a colonial town steeped in history, where you’ll have the chance to bathe in its hot springs before spending the night there.
La Luchita—in the cloud forest
Start with a 19-kilometer mountain bike ride uphill through lush vegetation to reach Luchita.
Once you arrive, you’ll stay at an inn, where you might even catch a glimpse of the legendary quetzal!
San Pablo de León Cortés - Coffee Flavors
Start your day with a 6-kilometer climb to reach the highest point of the Camino de Costa Rica, at an elevation of 2,330 meters. You’ll pass through the Los Santos region, renowned for its coffee, on your way to San Pablo de León Cortés, where you’ll spend the night in a cabin.
Take advantage of this stop to enjoy a coffee tasting at a small local farm and learn about the process of making award-winning coffees.
Tarrazú's Naples—The Final Descent
Set out on a long, 45-kilometer day through coffee plantations, mostly downhill. You’ll stop in Nápoles de Tarrazú before continuing your descent to your lodge for the night.
Quepos—The End of the Adventure
Hike the remaining 22 km to Quepos and take in the beauty of the Pacific Ocean. You’ll cross the final milestone of the Camino de Costa Rica and celebrate the completion of your adventure in the warmth of the palm trees!
You’ll spend the night in a hotel room in the village of Quepos.
Manuel Antonio—a must-see
Today you’ll visit Manuel Antonio National Park, an exceptional place to relax on pristine beaches and discover local wildlife such as sloths and squirrel monkeys.
You’ll then head back toward Poás, north of San José, to spend the night.
Poás Volcano - San José
Explore Costa Rica’s Central Valley and marvel at the Poás Volcano! Enjoy the spectacular view of its active crater, where sulfur fumaroles and an acidic lake come into view.
You’ll spend the night at a lodge offering a magnificent view of the volcano.
